6 Ways to Reduce Stress and Protect Your Heart (a well-taken info)

Reduce the harmful effects of stress on your heart and mind.

Medically reviewed by Rosalyn Carson-DeWitt, MD
People with heart health concerns should be especially careful about managing the different sources of stress in their lives. The body's natural response to stress can increase your heart rate, raise your blood pressure, and release stress hormones, according to experts at the Journal of American Medicine Association. Stress also forces the heart muscle to work harder. high cholesterol levels, a person's inclination toward smoking, the urge to overeat, and lack of interest in physical activity. Robert Ostfeld, MD, M.Sc., an associate professor of clinical medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City, adds that stress can put a strain on blood vessels and predispose a person to heart disease. "It's not healthy for you heart," says Dr. Ostfeld, "but there are a variety of techniques that can help you reduce the stress in your life." The American Heart Association (AHA) suggests that acute and chronic stress may also affect other risk factors and behaviors, such as
  1. Build a Support System
Start by talking to your spouse, family, and close friends about your health and your aspirations to manage the stress in your life. They may be able to help you take on, reduce, or alleviate certain stressors. You may also consider joining a support group for people with similar heart-related health conditions or starting individual counseling to help you learn more effective ways for tackling stressful situations.
  2. Recognize Your Stress Triggers
Learn to identify the things in your life that trigger stress — the workload at your job, frustrating relationships with family members or friends, driving in traffic, fear revolving around your health condition — and try to figure out ways to either avoid those triggers, or cope better with them through improved communication, deep breathing exercises, anger management, or even talk therapy.
  3. Schedule in 'Time-Outs'
Ostfeld suggests making a concerted effort to take time out of your day to relax. It can be as easy as taking 20 minutes to simply sit and think, to take a bath, or engage in an activity that sooths you, like reading, doing a crossword puzzle, or practicing some yoga.
  4. Find Fun Stress-Relieving Activities
Jogging, cycling, swimming, and walking a dog are examples of physical activities that are not only good for your overall health, but are also smart ways to reduce stress, according to Ostfeld. Choose an activity (or several) that you enjoy and do them regularly to keep your stress levels under control, but be sure to check with your physician before starting any exercise regimen.
  5. Soothe Your Soul With Music
Music can go a long way in improving your mood on your commute to work, at the office, while working out, or even while grocery shopping. When you're starting to feel the effects of stress, turn to your favorite songs, playlists, or station on the radio. "Listening to calming music," Ostfeld adds, "may also lower blood pressure."
  6. Learn How to Say "No"
One of the best ways to manage the stress in your life is to avoid taking on more responsibilities or social obligations. Set boundaries with family members or friends, be assertive when it comes to your workload and hours, and plan your schedule so you have the time you need to get things done. "Structure your life in a way that helps you manage stress," suggests Ostfeld. "And don't sweat the small stuff."

TT: Confidence

I have been into blogging for almost a year. At first I am so engrossed with blogging that it became a part of me... Months passed by and the demands of my work is increasing thus I need to lie low in blogging. Then Ate Grace encouraged me to pursue blogging so that soon I can monetize it.So I did and have myself registered to multiple websites that offers opportunities, and one of them is socialspark.com. It took me for awhile for my blog to be approvd by their management... But it's worth the wait.. I am now enjoying writing through the opportunities their advertiser allowed me to take. From $5 to $7.50 and the latest was $30! What encouraged me most to write about this was the fact that my post was chosen as BEST POST TO DATE... Well I know that many best post are still coming but at least I made it there! The opportunity was sponsored by the Syndacast company. Of course the least thing that I can do in return to this best opportunity (so far) is to post my comment of gratitude....

iLove it!
Oh by the way, you might be wondering why I have this post titled as Confidence its because, at first I was really hesitant to pursue this post with apprehensions that I may not be qualified or worst be rejected... Thank God He gave me the confidence that I need...

WFW: Morality Recession

The real recession that the world felt right now is not solely economic recession but rather MORALITY RECESSION... The crisis begins when people tend to disobey the will of God.
We should not forget the main purpose of our existence here on Earth... it's no less than GLORIFYING GOD and do things as He commanded.
Have an Insightful Wednesday filled with His Word and wisdom.

Blessed Registered Nurses (TATAK BHCCCI)

MellowYellowMondayBadgeToday is brighter than yellow, you know why? three of our church mates made it to the Nursing Board exam! Praise God! What a good day to start for February! This POST is intended for these faithful young women who labored much and painstakingly took the comprehensive, intensive, purposive (what else?)grueling reviews coupled with prayers, prayers and prayers! I knew it from the start that they can make it. I know they deserve it... While keeping themselves busy with their review, they never neglected their ministry! Indeed, they are truly empowered to do God's will and in return, God gave them the best (as of this moment) time of their lives! I made it to a point to give credits to their achievement so I searched for their names and have it copied and pasted here... (Proof of their God-given wisdom and intellect)

Congratulations to our newly registered nurses of BHHHCI!

Then Sings My Soul: Hosanna In the Highest

One of my Hillsong favorites, this has been our morning anthem at the office. Janet used to play this song every morning and we just sing along....
"Break my heart for what break Yours...
Everything I have for Your kingdom's cause....
Hosanna in the Highest!

Come and sing along with us..

God bless

A Different Valentine

Christmas season has just ended but of course God's love never ends and it's a fact that never expires. So what's up now in the air is the celebration of love! I do not mean here an agape or paternal, it's the love for your beloved someone. Most men right now were having a hard time picking up the right gift for their love ones.  Flowers and chocolates are quite on top of the list, well, that is what men thinks. I just found a site that offers an interesting advices and helpful tips ideal for men who cannot figure out on what to give. Men, as we all know, need to make a good impression and show much love and thoughtfulness more than what flowers and chocolates can offer. There are gifts that are very much available in the market. Valentine's Day ideas for girls and women doesn't doesn't really have to be girlish at all. Pink and Red presents are adorable for young girls who loves bright and vibrant colors. But not all women are like that. As for me, I may have this femininity thing but I do still appreciate those things that boys enjoyed as well. If you need further advise  visit www.articlealley.com. See for yourself the rightful gift that women would surely adore!

TT: THE WORD

Psalm 119: 105- Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

How powerful is the Word of God? It's beyond measure! It pierced through one's soul and it strike hard when you are being hit. It is in the Word that we find the truth... It is in the Word that we are being reminded, reprimanded and commanded to do what is just and right before God.
I am thankful for His Word... His Word is a revelation... An eye opening... Indeed His Word is a lamp to my feet so I will not stumble and a light for my path so I will be guided.

 Psalm 119: 9,11
9: How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.
11: I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

His Word is not just an ordinary text, it spells a life everlasting.

God bless everyone!

WFW: Heart Check

Lately, I realized that I am too preoccupied with so many things and accomplish only a few. I have been too busy at the office that I was not able to finish checking the exam papers of my students, haven't started computing their grades and it is due for next week. At the end of the day I realized, it has been a long day and yet I was not able to meet my goal. Why am I working too hard? Why do I stressed myself? Indeed, I need to realign my priorities... I need to check my heart.

Scenic Sunday: Ang Tugas

Scenic Sunday
It's my first time to join this meme and I am proud to feature this Scenic Sunday my most favorite place. One may thought that there is nothing unusual about this scene. Well maybe yes since only those nearby residents have known its location.  I have been to overlooking places before but this particular place holds a special place in my heart... What's so unique about this tree was its location. it is situated separately from others.  The first time that I have been here the sun is about to set. Mind you, sunset is so cool to behold at this kind of place. I was not able to stay that long since it's difficult to go down when it's dark. It was on this place that a covenant was made between us and God. Sad to say, there are rumors that the place will be converted into a commercial place soon, hope against hope may it just remain as a rumor.  I wish I could go back there soon.

Is Your Volkswagen Cool?

Way back in college, I am already fascinated with the Volkswagen Beetle and how it looks. I just find it so cute and feminine, though most users/owners are men. I cannot even believe its superb performance which really last for long. A good friend of mine own one in faded yellow color. The first time I get a ride with it was really unforgettable. As I was expecting for a cooler ambiance inside, I was a bit surprised when all I can feel is the heat. My friend then told me that the Air-conditioning System was busted. I really do not know about engine parts then so I just shrugged.

It is only now that I learned that the Air-conditioning (AC) parts for any vehicle model like Volkswagen are replaceable.Volkswagen AC compressor , as they called it is available online at www.discountacparts.com for a very reasonable price. They offered full line of Volkswagen AC parts. Even for the old models like the 1995 Volkswagen Beetle, its AC parts can still be ordered with free shipping. Its quality is fully tested and guaranteed to be of best quality. They even offer a full warranty. It is very easy to shop with them and ask for order and support through their toll free phone number.

Maybe I need to share this to my friend who owned the Beetle so my favorite Volkswagen model will be back to the high way once again.

1995 Model (the same model to that friend of mine) I really find it cute.

I Desperately Need Your Help Please

I have mentioned once on one of my post about my blogging dilemma,

getting more opportunities which is seems too difficult and rare if you do not have your own domain. With that, one of my goals for this week is to have one. I planned to have it with the assistance of the Blogger.com website (my host). According to Mamang Grace, it’s easy to purchase your own domain with them. They will really facilitate you during the transition period of your new domain from blogspot to dot com. For an annual fee of $10 only you can have it through your EON account. Since I already have my Union EON account, I am all the more motivated to have it. Last week, I have an outstanding Paypal balance of $17 (good enough for the required payment) so I have transferred $15 to my Bank account last Saturday.

My $15 was converted into P 669.00 with P 50.00 fee (service fee, I guess). Then Paypal sent me this email:

2-4 days transactions seems an eternity for me but I patiently wait until I received this emil notification from them just this morning which really turned my day gloomy:

All I know is that I succesfully added my bank account to my Paypal as what they have emailed me:

I was really shocked and I do not know what to do next. And when they returned my money to my Paypal account, they charged me with P 250.00:

I cannot really believe it. I am new to this kind of transaction but what I do not understand was that my difficult to hard-earned few dollars was consumed. I do not know if I have the right to ask either my bank or Paypal.

Along with that lost hard-earned dollar is my goal.

Can somebody help me with this?

Safety First

Vehicular accidents often happen. We heard it on the news, and there's even some which we have actually seen from our naked eyes. It is a horrible scene that even I cannot imagine. I am into a vehicular accident once. It was really so scary. I am with my friends that time. We came from leadership training. While we are on our way, the wheel suddenly wiggle that brought us to the opposite lane and then it turn half-side down to the ground. The van was really damaged. The front mirror of the passenger van broke into pieces. The side windows crack and the right front wheel was removed. By God’s grace none of us died though most of us were quite injured.

When we were brought to the hospital, the car was left to the site. It has to be towed back to the city. Good thing it was insured, the expenses for the repair was really expensive if without an insurance. There are so many auto insurance now like HVG insurance which offers excellent deals. It is even easier to the part of the owner if the insurance company offers a 24-hour hassle free claim transactions. There are some who requires a lot which delayed the transaction and left you and your car waiting for long.

Some may not get their vehicle insured thinking that it will just entail a lot of cost. Partly true, but one must consider that this is for their own benefit. Besides, it is not really a problem considering that there are insurance companies which offers discounted prices for comprehensive insurance. Don’t take the risk, life is so precious. Safety first.

When Love and Hate Collide at Haiti...

Barely one week ago, a destructive 7.0 magnitude earthquake shaken the world of Haiti turning the buildings into rubbles and killing a lot of people including Filipinos... That wrath has never ended yet because once again they were traumatically shaken  with a lesser magnitude of 6.1 causing the people to run to the streets fearing of being trapped again inside a building...

Not a good start for the year2010 for them. Haiti is believe to be the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere... Helpless Haitians were seeking for help. They have not yet recovered from the aftershock of the previous incidents and now the latest roar reminded them again.. Who can survive such a situation as this... Everything happens for a reason but sometimes that reason is beyond our comprehension.

Let's pray for them... God bless.

How Far Can Unreasonable Anger May Take You?

I have researched multiple verses about ANGER and this is what I got. All of these are from the NIV Translation:

Proverbs 12:16 A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.
Proverbs 14:29 A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.
Proverbs 29:22 An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins.
Proverbs 30:33 For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife."
Ecclesiastes 7:9 Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.
Colossians 3:8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Psalms 37:8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret-it leads only to evil.
Ephesians 4:26,27 In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.
Ephesians 4:31,32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
James 1:19,20 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

Out of those verses I've quoted, I would like to emphasize on this one particular verse:

Proverbs 30:33 For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife."

Anger can only make sense if done without committing a sin... Often in the TV News and even to our local Radio, we heard almost everyday about people killing one another because of anger. They were provoked thus resulting to a murderous act. Who does not feel angry ever since? I guess, none of us. Even a little child has his tantrums, so with us adult.  Anger became a sin when you did something that is against the law.

It's not bad to get angry. We also need to release the tensions that we have inside us provided that we cannot commit murder (Sounds too extreme?). Yelling and cursing to  somebody you hated the most (or maybe  during that moment) is a crime itself. The book of Ephesians 4:29 (NIV) says:

29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen

We should be careful. If we let anger overwhelms us, chances are we can no longer control ourselves. Look at Jason Ivler. He's been in the news nationwide and the crime he had committed. Everything is originated from unreasonable anger and pride maybe?

His life's experience may serve as a lesson to those who just can't calm and control themselves.

Preserve  your life, your family and your future.

As one famous man quoted:
CONFLICT IS INEVITABLE;
OUR RESPONSE IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY

Overcoming Your Fear

There are things that we considered as dreadful to do, though, not true for everybody but only to a few who are afraid of that particular thing. Like myself, I really hate needle being injected through my veins, but I said to myself that I have to overcome that fear. That fear was brought about when I had my much-more-dreadful vehicular accident more than 4 years ago. Various needles were injected on my arms, from blood test to anti-tetanus and the last one was the PANTOLOC that was injected through the dextrose. Indeed that's the most painful physical experience that I had (aside from the actual accident). It haunted me, and I hate it.but need to overcome it and I successfully did. Last year I went through blood letting. At first I was really hesitant but my desire to overcome that fear overwhelms me. That was my first. Then I decided to undergo the same process for the next three months but I was not feeling well so it was postponed. Then today, finally, I got the chance to donate a blood again. (Thanks to mobile Red Cross team)

It was very timely because my colleague need a blood (of the same type) for his brother who is into a weekly dialysis because of his kidney. It feels good to be of help.
The best way to overcome your fear is to face it.
