Are You Living Professionally?

How likable are you as a Professional?

When we talk about professionalism it is way far beyond what is defined in the dictionary. Most people thought that only those who were able to earn a degree deserve to be called “professionals”. But I beg to disagree. Yes, they might be called “professionals” but not all of them practice the real value of professionalism.

Real professionalism does not start from the appreciation of oneself. It does not focus on how we value ourselves but rather it focuses on how we value others. When we give premium concern for other’s feelings, it is already good as giving value of our very own self. There are so called “professional” individuals who have short knowledge about professionalism. We can mostly find them in the corporate world or even in the academe. They are those who do not accept suggestion from those who are in lower position. They regarded their suggestion as rubbish. For them, taking a suggestion from their subordinates is just like insulting their capabilities- a big slap on their face. These are the kinds of people whose ego reaches to the highest peak. It is also disheartening to think that people whom you have expected the most to treat any individual fairly are the people who will tell you directly that they are more knowledgeable than you thus you have no right to tell them on what to do. I just couldn’t understand why they are so bitter in accepting one’s suggestion even if it means more advantages on their part. Well, we can blame it on their egocentric personality that could possibly be dominating on them.

So, how should we define “professionalism”? For me, it is beyond the degree that we earned from burning the midnight candle. It is all about establishing good relationship to people in all walks of life whom we dealt with everyday. It is a simple gesture of politeness and respect not only with those who are above us but most especially those who are under our responsibility. However, if value is not injected in all academic curriculum, what else could we expect but bright minds yet with filthy behavior. But the value that I am trying to emphasize here is just reinforcement to the value that was taught in every home. Yes, parents play a vital role in instilling to their children the significance of right attitude. Teachers will just do the reinforcement. Correct values will manifest in the way the individual talks and acts. Professionalism does not attain only after graduation. It is attained when we are still young and we were taught when to say YES and when to say NO.

Let us assess ourselves right now: Are we living professionally?

Are You Good In Keeping Promises?

I don't know anymore how to deal with those people that have no word of honor. I am the type of person who gives value on promises. That is why it really get into my nerves when I meet people who just couldn't keep their promises. To give you an idea on how frustrated I am right now, let me share to you my story:

We are currently renting a room (just good enough for me, my Hubby and our baby). Our landlord lives in the second floor. When the occupants on the other room moved out just last Saturday my Hubby suggested moving to the vacated place because it is more convenient than ours. And I agree with him. Given the idea, I approached the owner and told her about our plans. She agreed with us saying that she supposed to tell me about it but naunahan ko lang daw sya. She also told us that she already expressed such idea to my Mother-in-law about it. So me and my hubby were really very happy and so when I went for grocery on Sunday, I bought all the cleaning materials that we need in preparation of our plans since we need to clean it first and disinfect everything because the previous occupants is a cat owner and we want to get rid of all those parasites that might be left in there. The owner told us that they need to repair the ceiling first and so we have been waiting for their "GO" signal. However, last night when I got home, I was surprised when my husband told me that the owner has the room inspected by prospective new occupants late in the afternoon. It sounded like a bomb to me considering that I was so excited for the plan. But I didn't say anything until the owner will really confirm it. So just this morning, the owner (the wife) told me that she forgot to tell me that before the former occupant vacated the room, a neighbor had been telling her to inform them because they are interested to rent it for their niece and that she never thought that the said neighbor was really interested about it until yesterday when the said occupant came. Out of great dismay, I told her that if that's the case, it's beyond my control considering that I am just a tenant. But she added that if we are really interested, the monthly rent is higher than our present rate, and the charge for the electric bill is not included. I was again a little bit shock. Why I was shock? Because never did she mention about it last Saturday about the rate because in the first place, the room area is the same only that everything is in there (the comfort room and the sink). Out of great dismay again I just told her to give it to the interested occupant because I could no longer afford the rate.

The feeling that I have right now might be misunderstood by some. But honestly, I was really so disappointed. I am disappointed because they were giving us false hopes. I am disappointed because they were not good in keeping their promises. I am disappointed because they were just so insensitive with the feeling. They should have told us about it before they offered it to us. They should have not given us false excitement, they should have not been definite about it if they weren't really sure. But then even if I am totally disappointed with them I tried to keep my calm with one thing on my mind. I want to find another place for us to stay. I just couldn't live with their presence any longer. Now I need to browse here in the internet hoping that I could find one.

This is just among those frustrations about unkept promises... If I am going to enumerate them all it would be too many. I just hope some of them will be able to remember to keep it even to the last minute.

How about you, are you good in keeping promises?

June June Oh June

It's June month already. Time flew so fast indeed. Imagine, it is already middle of the year! I am quite excited because next two weeks I will be back to my first love, my teaching career. I will be leaving my present job to concentrate on teaching. I am excited because I will be teaching Drawing subject again (after three school years!). I doubt if I could still get back my pulse in drawing after a long months of hiatus! Anyway, welcome back dear studes! Another faces, and new acquaintances!

God bless!

My son is now so camera conscious...

He pause and pose when the camera is pointed to him... I love this young boy so much! He is the mere reason why I love waking up each day. Whenever I came home, his smile melts my heart and inviting me to get him and hug him. He is so cuddly and simply irresistible.

#152/366 BPC: Flawless Face You Want?

BEFORE

Wee I just miss those time when pimple breakouts is not yet haunting me. Well, this was taken when I was still single. See, unlike the present time, I do not have acne marks and many were asking about my beauty regimen. But since I got pregnant, acne breakouts was inevitable. Anyway, slowly I am recuperating from those bad marks.

NOW

See the difference? Thanks to the BB Cream I am using and thanks to Tupperware Brands, it pays to be a dealer. LOL!

WFW: Are You Truly Released?

Romans 7:6 (52 kb)

People who are bounded with the law still exist today. They are those who haven't fully realized yet with what Jesus Christ have done for them on the cross. They still follow the old traditions when it comes to foods, clothing, and manner of worshiping.

However, there are still some who claimed to have complete faith in Jesus Christ yet they are still bounded not with the old law, but with their old, selfish ways. They claimed to have Jesus Christ in their lives yet it does not manifest. Many were still stumbled with their attitude, with their ways of dealing other people and their manner of speech.

How about you, are you really released or still slaved with your old self which Jesus Christ have supposedly ransomed more than two thousand years ago.

#149/366 BPC: 4+1

Time flew so fast indeed. This young boy holding my baby is my nephew. He is the first apo of my Mom. I can still remember almost 12 years ago when I used to carry him and babysit him. The girl on his left side is his little sister and the other two on his right is my other nieces, they are siblings too. Now that Gregory was added on the list, they are all so eager to babysit my baby. They take turns in carrying him (in my great advantage). And that big bee on the back is their babysitter LOL!

Garage Sale, Anyone?

Are you bored this summer. Are you a student, a full time Mom, or an individual who just want to have fun and earn at the same time? Why not try for a garage sale!

Yeah, garage sale! and I tell you it is so effective specially if you are situated in a crowded place. If you are in a similar situation with us, grab that chance to sale those slightly used, overly used but still usable clothing (LOL), old but still functional gadgets, and old accessories you've got there in your home. This is exactly what me and my hubby did last Saturday. Out of boredom and wanting to get rid of those unused things we have at home, he started to de-clutter and segregate those functional gadgets like chargers, cellphones, flashlight, binoculars. He also include his pants, shirts and shoes. The experience was really fun. And guess what, out of that items we sold, we're able to buy our needs!

Well, we're able to de-clutter and earn at the same time. Isn't it such a rewarding summer experience? If we have only known this idea earlier this summer, then it would be great! LOL!

#143/366: Irresistible FB

I don't have any idea as to when Facebook (FB) will become obsolete because based on observation, the number of FB users grows rapidly each day. Even those who are below 18 years of age got an FB account (with fake birth year of course LOL!). My grade schooler nieces and nephew already had an account and even the four month old baby of my colleague got one too! Now, who can resist FB? As for me, I thank FB because it makes the world smaller, allowing me to get an update from my siblings abroad.

In our office, we've got lot of things to do especially when we have projects on the line. Computer tasks are plenty but just like what the picture below says, FB is like a REAL TEMPTATION. And with approval, there goes my colleague who's always been updated with the latest happenings of his friends through FB!

Decisions, Decisions, Oh Decisions!

They said, life is how we make it... What we are today is what we have decided yesterday.
I completely ignore this truths before because I am over confident of myself when I made one of the greatest decisions in my life. I thought everything will fall in complete order. I thought everything will be okay. But the present truth indeed opened my eyes trying to point fingers on me while saying "I told you so...".

No I am not complaining. However, if I should  only have paid attention with it, I should have a better results than what I have right now. I felt like a complete failure with my own decision. But this is life. I have decided for it therefore I should take it. I once consoled a friend who viewed life as so unfair with her. I gave her all the best encouragement that I could just to comfort her. But right now, I saw myself on her but with no one else to console me. Ironically, it's so funny.

Indeed, we should be careful what we have decided for. Think not only twice but for a considerable time. Weigh things out before engaging yourself with that decision. Once decided, you have to live for it.

Decisions, decisions, Oh decisions! Do not decide out of strong emotion. Do not decide because you feel like doing it. Do not decide because you are compelled to do so. Decide only when you have thoroughly think about it, prayed for it and ready for its outcome.

The bottom line? Discern and Decide wisely.
