Immunity Booster at Home

The rising cases of COVID19 are totally alarming. People are getting paranoid as to what to do and how to go about it. The best approach that we could ever do to minimize the risk of infection is to boost our immune system. Apart from taking essential vitamins, there are other different ways that we can do at home that have been proven and tested to really keep our immune system at its best.

When feeling sick, people have become very reluctant in going to the hospital for the fear of getting infected with the virus. Thus, the traditional methods of therapy resurfaced. Among the traditional methods used nowadays, steam inhalation or tuob also called steam therapy is the most popular, which is done through inhalation of water vapor. The warm, moist air helps in loosening the mucus in the nasal passages, throat, and lungs. This may relieve symptoms of inflamed, swollen blood vessels in the nasal passages.

The food we eat every day also contributes to boosting our immune system. There are many immune system boosters that we can find in the market. We have fruits that are rich in Vitamin C, vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, some nuts like almond and sunflower seeds, AND spices like bell pepper, garlic, turmeric, and chili pepper that we can find in the famous chili garlic sauce.

 The Benefits of Chilies

Native Wild Chili

Why chilies? Well, The spicy properties of the chilies in hot sauce have been shown to help beat off the symptoms of colds and flu by easing sinus and nasal congestion, increasing body temperature, and relieving respiratory problems. Based on studies, Chilli peppers contain a substance called capsaicin, which gives peppers their characteristic pungency, producing mild to intense spice when eaten. Capsaicin is being studied as an effective treatment for sensory nerve fiber disorders, including pain associated with arthritis, psoriasis, and diabetic neuropathy.

Dandom's Chili Garlic Sauce

The benefits of chili are not limited to boosting our immunity, it also fights inflammation, a natural pain reliever for those who are suffering from diabetes, and can even aid us in losing weight! Of course, eating chili by itself is such a dreadful idea. The best way to eat chili is by eating chili garlic sauce! There are many chili garlic sauces in the market so how to choose the best one? Choose chili sauce that is made from fresh garlic and fresh chilies. The one that is made from native wild chilies is the best! And do you know where to find it? Check this out!

Herniated Disc Treatment

Lately, a colleague of mine suffered an intolerable pain on her back that when she visits the doctor for a checkup it was found out that one of the discs on her spinal column was misaligned. She really does not have an idea what cause it to happen but she was advised to undergo herniated disc surgery if the pain persisted. People suffering with herniated disc should seek an immediate treatment to avoid further damage. There are modern treatment options available today and one of those is the artificial disc replacement that should be performed only by leading spine surgeon.

Mobile medical unit interior
First-class interiors
LifeLine owners enjoy a level of interior build out that can't be attained in a converted RV or school bus.
Hospitals regularly need people to donate blood so they can have it available during surgery or other medical interventions. While people can always donate at the hospital, it is much more effective to have a blood mobile go out into a busy area of the community where citizens can do their civic duty and donate. A properly equipped medical unit can set up in a corner of a shopping center parking lot or out in the country at the county fair. Mobile medical units from LifelineMobile.com are designed to be extremely functional for the specific purpose they are intended to be used. They can be made on a converted bus or truck platform and equipped with all of the necessary equipment and supplies to facilitate the treatment or testing of patients. A mobile mammogram unit can heighten community awareness of the battle against breast cancer and the importance of early screening. Drive a pink truck into a neighborhood and women will take notice and perhaps get an exam. Mobile medical units are excellent for special events. If there is a big music festival being held in some outdoor venue, the organizer must make sure that there are adequate medical services available in case someone gets sick or is injured while at the event. A mobile nursing station can help if someone gets dehydrated, cuts their hand or falls and sprains an ankle. A mobile dental truck can reach out to provide free basic dental care to communities that do not have access to dentists. In times of disaster, like the recent Oklahoma tornado, a mobile medical unit can provide emergency care and help the community while it recovers. Mobile medical units reach out into the community and bring medical care to the people.

Health Advocacy: Donate To Cancer Research

Health is wealth. This is already a common cliché yet it remains as the absolute truth. No one wants to get infected with any diseases especially those which are considered as life-threatening conditions such as CANCER. For me, cancer is not only dreadful to hear; it is also very disheartening especially if the one being affected is someone whom we know or rather close to us. Why do some cancer patients were not able to survive? It is because they lack medication or maybe because the cure wasn’t founded yet that is why they remain with such horrible condition waiting for the cancer cells to eat them up and finally lose the battle of survival.

With the growing development in medical research, cancer can be cured. It just needs ample time and enough resources to make such research. That is why we should be thankful for those medical scientists who spend their time, effort and skills in finding the cure of a certain cancer problems such as breast cancer which affects women worldwide. As a citizen, we could take part in finding that cure by giving our resources. We should be thankful that we are spared from this kind of disease and in our gratefulness; we can be of help to the medical scientist who pursue this cause. Why not donate to cancer research so that their finding will be hastened which could benefit all our affected brethren out there. We might not have that expertise in doing clinical research but we can still be a part of this life-saving project by being a donor. For more info, visit www.cureLauncher.com. This website is designed to advocate for and fund clinical trials and medical research projects. Start making a worthwhile advocacy, join them now.

Why I Hardly Sleep?

If I will be asked to find somebody who cannot live a day without coffee, I wil surely point no less than my very own self. I am a certified coffeeholic (my term for coffee addiction). I'm into brown coffee,  I just so love it and there's only one brand of its kind that I really love he most (better not mention it here though).

And so yesterday afternoon, in the middle of my class, I left my student while doing their project to have a sip of brown coffee (with bread). I was just so sleepy that I want hot coffee to perk me up. And guess what? I was able to consumed TWO CUPS! err MUGS it's not really unusual to me but it was taken simultaneously. My colleague told me that it has an effect to me and I might be suffering from it. I just completely ignore what she said by telling here that I am used of doing it. Then later that afternoon, I felt like eating "isaw" so I have a bottle of softdrinks to complete my meal. I then realized, I do have lots of caffeine intake for the day.

And true enough, it has an effect on me: I CANNOT SLEEP! yes, I really find it hard to sleep last night. I read my Amway Product Catalogue in order to drain my eyes but still it doesn't work. If I were to measure the total number of hours where I have an interrupted sleep, it might be just within two hours!

Now, I felt the need to cut down my coffee intake. Or at least I shouldn't have took it simultaneously :(
Indeed, TOO MUCH OF SOMETHING IS BAD ENOUGH!

Right this moment, I'm feeling groggy while having my class...

Shaping a New You for 2012!

If you are among those individuals who are still trying hard to make a great difference for this year 2012 when it comes to diet, this simple tips that I will give you  could be of great help to you. I was once an aspirant of losing weight to the extent of not eating anything at all (of course such way is not advisable for it could affect your health negatively). But all of those will (or shall i say unsuccessful attempt) was gone when I conceived my baby. As pregnant, I became unconscious with my weight anymore knowing that it is normal for pregnant women to really gain lots of weight. However, it made me realize now that I still need to watch my diet especially during postpartum period.

So, I have here list of natural appetite suppressants that will help you stay full and will therefore lower your calorie intake...
ALMOND. Now, who doesn't love almond? This is so rich in antioxidants, Vitamin E and magnesium have also been shown to increase feelings of fullness in people and help with weight management

COFFEE. a moderate amount of coffee can help boost metabolism and suppress your appetite. Coffee's secret? Caffeine, along with antioxidants from the coffee beans. Just don't cancel out those good effects with too much sugar or cream!
DARK CHOCOLATE. a little dark chocolate helps to lower your cravings because the bitter taste signals the body to decrease your appetite. Not to mention that the steric acid in dark chocolate helps slow digestion to help you feel fuller longer. If dark chocolate is too bitter for you, try having a piece with a cup of black coffee—it'll bring out the sweetness!
EGGS. eating an egg or two for breakfast can help dieters feel more full over 24 hours. (I am just quite confused if the outer color of the egg shell has some significance or any egg color will do:)
SWEET POTATOES. potatoes contain a special type of starch that resists digestive enzymes, making them stay in your stomach longer and therefore keep you full. Plus, they're full of vitamin A and vitamin C!
AVOCADO. Full of fiber and heart-healthy monounsaturated fat, avocados suppress appetite when eaten in moderation. In fact, the fats in these little guys send signals to your brain that tell your stomach that it's full!
APPLES. Apples of all varieties and types help suppress hunger for a number of reasons. First, apples are filled with soluble fiber and pectin, which help you feel full. Apples also regulate your glucose and boost your energy level. Finally, apples require lots of chewing time, which helps slow you down and gives your body more time to realize that you're no longer hungry. Plus, they just taste good!

GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES. If you're really looking for a highly nutritious food that will fill you up for hours, you can't beat green leafy vegetables. From kale to spinach to Swiss chard, these fibrous greens (eaten raw or gently sautéed with a little olive oil) are delicious and definitely keep hunger at bay.
TOFU. A rich plant-based protein source, tofu isn't just for vegetarians! Tofu is high in an isoflavone called genistein, which has been shown to suppress appetite and lower food intake.
And lastly,

WATER. Could taming your appetite be as easy as drinking an extra glass or two of water? Science says yes! In one August 2010 study, people who drank two glasses of water before a meal ate between 75 and 90 fewer calories at the meal than those who didn't drink water. Love that H2O!

Keeping ourselves fit and physically healthy needs a strong determination. Without that determination, we tend to follow a diet program for just a short span of time without total commitment. Losing weight isn't that easy after all but with great determination comes great decision. YOU CAN MAKE IT!

God bless you on all your endeavor towards a healthy lifestyle!

6 Ways to Reduce Stress and Protect Your Heart (a well-taken info)

Reduce the harmful effects of stress on your heart and mind.

Medically reviewed by Rosalyn Carson-DeWitt, MD
People with heart health concerns should be especially careful about managing the different sources of stress in their lives. The body's natural response to stress can increase your heart rate, raise your blood pressure, and release stress hormones, according to experts at the Journal of American Medicine Association. Stress also forces the heart muscle to work harder. high cholesterol levels, a person's inclination toward smoking, the urge to overeat, and lack of interest in physical activity. Robert Ostfeld, MD, M.Sc., an associate professor of clinical medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City, adds that stress can put a strain on blood vessels and predispose a person to heart disease. "It's not healthy for you heart," says Dr. Ostfeld, "but there are a variety of techniques that can help you reduce the stress in your life." The American Heart Association (AHA) suggests that acute and chronic stress may also affect other risk factors and behaviors, such as
  1. Build a Support System
Start by talking to your spouse, family, and close friends about your health and your aspirations to manage the stress in your life. They may be able to help you take on, reduce, or alleviate certain stressors. You may also consider joining a support group for people with similar heart-related health conditions or starting individual counseling to help you learn more effective ways for tackling stressful situations.
  2. Recognize Your Stress Triggers
Learn to identify the things in your life that trigger stress — the workload at your job, frustrating relationships with family members or friends, driving in traffic, fear revolving around your health condition — and try to figure out ways to either avoid those triggers, or cope better with them through improved communication, deep breathing exercises, anger management, or even talk therapy.
  3. Schedule in 'Time-Outs'
Ostfeld suggests making a concerted effort to take time out of your day to relax. It can be as easy as taking 20 minutes to simply sit and think, to take a bath, or engage in an activity that sooths you, like reading, doing a crossword puzzle, or practicing some yoga.
  4. Find Fun Stress-Relieving Activities
Jogging, cycling, swimming, and walking a dog are examples of physical activities that are not only good for your overall health, but are also smart ways to reduce stress, according to Ostfeld. Choose an activity (or several) that you enjoy and do them regularly to keep your stress levels under control, but be sure to check with your physician before starting any exercise regimen.
  5. Soothe Your Soul With Music
Music can go a long way in improving your mood on your commute to work, at the office, while working out, or even while grocery shopping. When you're starting to feel the effects of stress, turn to your favorite songs, playlists, or station on the radio. "Listening to calming music," Ostfeld adds, "may also lower blood pressure."
  6. Learn How to Say "No"
One of the best ways to manage the stress in your life is to avoid taking on more responsibilities or social obligations. Set boundaries with family members or friends, be assertive when it comes to your workload and hours, and plan your schedule so you have the time you need to get things done. "Structure your life in a way that helps you manage stress," suggests Ostfeld. "And don't sweat the small stuff."
