An Open Letter for Ms Kim Henares (Can't Get Over Yet With PacMan vs BIR Issue)

While browsing on my FB account, I stumbled upon this post, read it, shared it on my wall and finally decided to post it here so the world will also know. I know many has been following on Manny Pacquiao's tax case not only by us, Filipinos but to the whole world also who believe on PacMan's integrity and ability.

Dear Kim Henares,

I do not doubt your sincerity to collect taxes from every Filipino, living or dead.

I do not even doubt your integrity in making sure that you are able to collect the proper taxes from everyone.

I am however questioning your motives and arbitrary choice in the personalities you choose to prosecute.

I am going to cite one particular person who has been on the BIR's radar as a perennial tax evader for the last 20-years with cases going in and out of court.

His name is Lucio Tan and he owes the country more than 5-billion pesos in tax liabilities decided on numerous times by the Supreme Court as executory stand final and yet no garnishment order was ever made until his petition in the SC reversed their decisions time and again.

Lucio Tan was never known for his philanthropy or good business practices. He authored the contractualization of PAL and Asia Brewery employees which was not only detrimental to Filipino Labor but also to taxes that could be collected from these workers had they been regular employees.

Lucio Tan is also accused of ill-gotten wealth from his Marcos days, and yet he continues to enjoy his money.

Congressman Manny Pacquiao's case is not even at the High Court and his earnings have already been garnished.

You have been given certified true copies of Pacman's tax payments in the US and yet you refuse to recognize this and insist on originals which I believe, but I may be mistaken, even ?US citizens have no access to.

And to think that Pacquiao earned his money through honest, literally blood, sweat and tears. And he is one of about ten persons who insist in keeping his money in the Philippines because he is a patriot.

He could have stashed it somewhere you cannot reach it if he had things to hide, but he kept it here, so our economy can make use of it.

You cannot even freeze the money of politicians involved in the PDAF scam but you can do this to an ordinary man who managed to rise above all of you through hard work, guts, integrity and the work of his own hands.

And that is why your integrity is rapidly being eroded, because you don't seem to think anymore. You just grab the first victim that cannot fight you.

Because even if Pacquiao is a Congressman, he is not connected to the old boys club and so does not have the clout of the Tan's, Sy's, Dy's and others.

Oh, and Lucio Tan did give over 100 million to Noynoy's election kitty while Pacquiao was with the opposition.

I guess we know now the motivations don't we?

Yours disgustedly,

Your Boss's Boss
-Author Unknown-

Oh there you have it. For me, I would agree on what PacMan said when he was interviewed on television, this is another case of crab mentality.

Sigh ;-(

Remembering Andres Bonifacio

He may not be our National hero, but Andres Bonifacio contributed much in the history of the Philippines. Until now, some people insist that it should be him who deserve the title of a National Hero. However, Dr. Jose Rizal's educational achievement were given much emphasis as well as his non-violent ways of seeking for freedom. But for me, whether he is our national hero or not, Andres Bonifacio is a good example of how Filipinos are willing to risk their lives for our country's ultimate freedom from foreign colonization.

PacMan's Fight Outside the Boxing Ring

The Philippine's Pride, Rep. Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao, faces yet another fight of his life: the tax evasion case. Now that some of his properties and all of his bank accounts will about to be frozen and garnish, PacMan showed his greatest disappointments with how the BIR put such pressure on him.

For me, I am not in the right position to question the decision of the BIR. However, such decision was so abrupt and too publicize that one can really react out of it. Besides, we all know that PacMan's wealth is not an ill-gotten wealth. He earned it by risking his health and life. There are lots of businessmen, politicians, entertainers who are obviously "tax evaders" yet they remained untouched. Another thing, there are lot of measures that can be done to check whether PacMan is really doing his responsibility as law-abiding Filipino citizen. Why not the BIR directly ask the IRS of USA for the documents that proves PacMan was indeed paying his taxes.

Look Back, Look Now and Compare

PacMan has once again dominated the boxing ring with his fight against Brandon Rios yesterday at Macau, China. People everywhere especially those who were affected by the Typhoon Yolanda were celebrating knowing that PacMan dedicated this fight to them.

Indeed PacMan proved his strength once again after losing his two previous fights. I was annoyed by an old woman yesterday who gave a sarcastic comment against PacMan giving emphasis on PacMan's new belief. She said that if PacMan will lose the fight its because of his new religion. So pathetic old woman. I just ignore her because I don't want to have a word war with her.

For those who are persecuting PacMan for his new religion, this one thing I can say: Look back, look now and compare. Try to look back how PacMan was doing before he declared having  personal relationship with God. He used to be a womanizer, a gambler and well maybe he was among those who prayed on idols. People of those kind should stop feasting on PacMan's new found faith. Instead, they should be happy for what he become right now.

To you PacMan, continue to live with the kind of faith that you have right now. God will bless you more.

The Globalization That Resulted to Climate Change

After the disastrous scenario brought by Super Typhoon Yolanda (a.k.a Haiyan), a drastic measures pertaining to environmental concern should be implemented. As we all know, Philippines is often visited with more than 20 typhoons every year and many believed that this is caused by climate change.

The Globalization and the Climate Change

The drastic change that was brought by the industrialization of our economy causes greater impacts in the changes of our society and ecology. Along with the industrialization is the destruction of our natural environment. Its detrimental effect can be felt right now and some measures were done to save the once abundant nature that God purposely delegated to mankind.

Nature’s destruction was caused by human’s greediness for greater wealth. Such destruction makes the poor becomes poorer, and only few gets richer. The use of technologies such as large scale mining and large scale logging hasten up the destruction of our natural habitat. There are still many other transformations that were being introduced in our country which appear to be beneficial at first but only to realize in the end that its destruction is beyond repair. We are blinded with the ‘globalization’ that said to be the only answer for our economic crises. Little did we know that we are just being manipulated with the wrong perceptions and information. Globalization becomes a government policy (under the rules of GATT and WTO) and we are nailed to it.

We are compelled to export raw materials to foreign countries. The demands for raw materials are high and mostly, these were taken from our natural resources thus resulting to our environment’s serious damage. In order to cope up with the greater demands, there must be greater supplies as well therefore there should be mass productions of raw materials. When there’s a need for mass production, there should be bigger capital to finance the operation. This entire concept forced our government to borrow money from foreign countries making our economy to swell even more. The irony with this strategy is that we are just making global corporations to get richer as well as those already rich countries. Only few local elites get the benefits. Our future generations will then face the destructing consequences- greater debts and polluted environment. Indeed, this globalization strategy leaves nothing but contaminated and hazardous environment to live.

However, the recent calamity knows no boundaries nor status. Rich and poor alike suffers the wrath of nature. Yet, the poor victims becomes more hopeless because most of them lost their sources of income. I really do not know how should we go about it. But I guess we, Filipinos cannot afford to witness massive destruction again in the future. Yes, we are aware that we will be expecting for more typhoons, but can we afford to have another casualties again?

What's The Real Score

It's almost a week since Super Typhoon Yolanda devastated Tacloban City and its neighboring provinces. The damage was totally devastating indeed. Lots of relief goods are coming both from within and outside the country. It's so overwhelming how the people/countries joined efforts in sending help to the affected areas. Here in Cagayan de Oro alone, many non-government organizations, companies, private entities and even individuals initiated a relief operations. Indeed, the support was so touching and overwhelming.

However, it cannot be denied that there are some factions going on between the government and some "concerned citizens". There are lots of negative comments against the government concerning how slow the response was. But if we watch the news every night, such claims seems not true at all. The government was in fact very busy with their efforts in giving help to the victims. DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman even broke her silence regarding those negative comments. On her FB accounts she wrote that all efforts were done, 24/7. Well, I can't really say that such post was really from her because I doubt with its grammar and spelling LOL, but it was posted on her FB account (just click the link).

In my opinion, it's really hard to judge them (the government officials) considering that the impact of the calamity was so great that one can only think of running away from it if given the choice. If we also based our judgment on the victim themselves, they seems too hopeless with the situations. They just cannot rely on food ration and relief goods forever. Though it is their immediate needs but for how long will they entrust their lives to the help of other people? And for how long will the government be able to support them. Most of them are homeless, jobless and worst have lost some, if not all, members of their family and maybe among the casualties was their breadwinner. So how could they stand on their own if they felt like so hopeless with their situations? It is also reported that the food ration given to them will only last for 2 to 3 days depending on the number of its family members. Indeed, the situation itself was so disheartening. Only courageous people can stand to such scenario. Maybe, this is the right time for the government to show to the people, especially to those who thought negative against them, that their priorities was for the welfare of all the victims. With that, a permanent shelter should be built (this time, on a safer place) that could accommodate them all. I guess money is not an issue here because basing on the cash donations we received or we will be receiving from international entities, it worth billions of pesos plus the money coming from within the country.

Let's just pray that all the cash donations being collected will really be utilized to where and whom it is intended for. Let us also keep on tracking the progress of the relief operations. Let us all be vigilant in guarding the amount that was entrusted to our country. Let us not frustrate those who extend their help and effort for our fallen provinces. And may the government will do something to mitigate such destruction if another Super Typhoon will try to devastate our country again.

As to the question if what was really the real score there in Tacloban and other affected areas, whether the controversial CNN correspondent is telling the accurate news or not, its not just right for me to say anything because first and foremost, I've never been there.

Super Typhoon Yolanda Claimed More Lives in Leyte

I thought Super Typhoon Yolanda wasted three lives only per report prior to her exit but I was so surprised and sad after seeing the news brought by GMA's Jiggy Manicad and Love Añover who were both broadcasting late (not live since the signal there was down) in Leyte.

Another church was down in Leyte. The place whom people thought would be safer was torn down by the strongest winds that the people in Leyte have ever encountered. Leyte along with Samar were known to be a typhoon-prone provinces but so far, Typhoon Yolanda was the only Typhoon that brought such destruction. I know it will take longer before people in Leyte could recover as well as for other provinces that were severely affected too.

On the other hand, there are people who gave a very annoying remarks regarding the effect of typhoon here in Northern Mindanao. Some commented that the government were overly reacting with their preparations for the said typhoon. Those residents living on the flood-prone areas were forcefully instructed to vacate their respective residences and has to temporarily stay on designated evacuation centers until the typhoon will leave on the Philippines' area of responsibility. Instead of being grateful that what we experienced are only heavy rains, some people were reacting saying that their time was wasted because of the forceful evacuation.

Indeed, Senator MDS was right when she said that ignorance can be treated, but stupidity is forever.

The Great Dilemma Between New and Used Vehicles

It is an argument that goes back to the beginning of vehicles, and it still have never been fully resolved. When you are looking to buy a vehicle, you will first be presented with the question of whether or not you will want to buy a new vehicle. This can be a difficult question for many people, and there are advantages and disadvantages that are associated with both new and used vehicles. Here is a quick look at these benefits and drawbacks and how you can ultimately make the best decision for you and your family before you go to your local Larry Roesch Volkswagen dealer.

Buying Used

Many families want to buy a used vehicle, mainly because of the cheap price that is often associated with used vehicles. Not only will you not have to worry about a large down payment, but it will more than likely only take a few years in order to fully pay off your auto loan. The disadvantages of getting a used car are that you never know how well it will actually work. While most used cars will work perfectly fine for years to come, it is also possible that it will have a problem immediately after you buy the car, resulting in lost money.

Buying New
intro

The huge advantage of buying a new vehicle from your local Larry Roesch Volkswagen dealer is that you will be able to have the assurance that your car will work. Even if there are problems, most dealerships offer special warranties that can help to keep you financially protected for years to come. New cars also have the benefit of looking great and just having the new car feeling. The problem with these vehicles is that they are expensive, often much more than a used car. Another problem with buying a new vehicle is that you more than likely will not have a huge amount of choice, since you will be restricted with this year’s current models.

Right Against Self-Incrimination

Aside from the trending updates about Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), the Republic of the Philippines were very much eager in Janet Lim Napoles' Senate Hearing. However, the Blue Ribbon Committee failed to let JLN revealed the truth for he abusively invoked her right against self-incrimination.

I know it's not only me who complain about how JLN answered every questions thrown at her. Nevertheless, no matter how firm she is in denying the truth, the Republic of the Philippines knew that she was more than guilty!

Beware of Toxic Toys

If you are considering buying toys for Christmas, avoid purchasing it from unregistered stores. The Department of Trade and Industry reported that there are lots of stalls in the market right now who are selling toys that has been known to have higher lead content.

Lead poisoning is fatal and usually it is caused by lead-based paint. We should be careful in selecting a toy for our kids. We should not leave them alone while playing because kids as they are, they tend to swallow smaller parts of the toys.

image not mine

We should practice safety measures at home, especially if there are kids. Yes it is true that every kid loves playing with their toys, we should not deprive them with that. However, we should not also allow them to harm themselves with the toys that we are giving them.

Remember, an ounce of prevention is better than a pounds of cure.

Be safe everyone.

What's (or Who's) Bugging You Lately?

This was the verse that our Minister shared to us during his Sunday preaching. His message was so timely for those individuals who have overly sensitive attitude, like me. It is not really difficult to be at peace with anyone and everyone as long as they too wanted to be at peace with anyone else. If you have that type of patience that can endure hostility, I would like to know how you were able to do it. Because for me, it's hard to maintain a harmonious relationship with any individual who keeps on bugging you and testing your patience to the limit.

But still, I keep on asking God that He will grant me a heart that knows how to control any situation and a wisdom to ignore those people who keeps on bugging me.

8th Years Indeed!

All Souls Day, more or less 10AM, as we were heading back to Cagayan de Oro from Davao, we met an accident, a vehicular accident to be exact. The van where we were in toppled down, leaving us all 10-12 passengers in great shock! (Who wouldn't?). But I was the one who was severely wounded. we were brought to the hospital after the nearest clinic gave us a first aid. The good thing there was that we were all alive. There's only two of us who were really confined at the hospital for almost a week, me and my best friend.

Eight years have passed. Now I am already a Mom of two beautiful kids. That accident didn't left any trace at all except for memories. I was just have a chat with my best friend who was in Taiwan right now. Like any other situation/circumstances we've been through, both of us just laugh at the memories that we both shared eight years ago.

Choose the Best Quality Guitar

When you purchase a guitar, choose only those with best quality. There are lots of affordable guitars being sold in the market today that looks really good yet has a very low quality.

What are the qualities of a best guitar?

As what my hubby said, the physical look should not be the top most priority in selecting the best electric guitar. What should comes first is the sound quality. I know it is not that easy to detect a high quality guitar by just merely looking at it, but obviously, those that has greater price has a higher quality. Maybe the best thing to do before purchasing an electric guitar is to make some sound checks. Go for those with good pick up, sounds clear and all its strings should be audible enough when strummed.

Even if you are still an amateur musician, invest on best quality guitars like Line 6 guitar for a guaranteed satisfaction. Electric guitars can last longer as long as it has a very good quality.
