Lie... Lie... Lie....

Call me ugly, call me fat but never call me anything that does not hold true about me... One more thing, never judge me just because I made a simple honest mistake... If I did something wrong and I felt guilty about it, I will not make any violent reaction. To remain silent is much more justifiable than give alibis in defending yourself. HOWEVER, if the accusation was pure lie, that's another story. To rebut is not wrong as long as your intention is just to erase the judgment that some people may throw against you. To remain silent about it will only made you appear to be really guilty of the things you never did. That should not be the case, whatsoever. God told me to be humble always no matter what. But I believe that God gave me wisdom to correct what is needed to be corrected and to prove the wrong things that they thought about me. If I'll just keep silent, what would be the implication? They will just continue to believe what they thought I really am. I cannot allow that to happen. Sometimes, we just have to defend ourselves not just by actions, but by words as well. But of course, we need to do that in a manner that is not offending to them, or else, all your labor and effort will be in vain...

Lord, I am not doing this because I have something to brag (I knew I have nothing to brag about) but I am doing this to keep them reminded that NOT AT  ALL TIMES they are on the right reason even if they thought they were... and that they need to be corrected because human as they are, the fact remains that they are not perfect... And also for them to realize that we are not invincible from pain and depression.

Duh! what a day!

Online Cultural Writing Workshop

Visit NCCA websites
I was privilege enough to grab this opportunity being one of the delegates sponsored by National Commission for the Culture and the Arts. This 2-day workshop aims to acquaint us with the use of the internet in bringing information to the people and promoting the Filipino cultures to the whole wide web. More or less 30 million Filipinos have accessed to the internet. However, not all were able to maximize the benefits that the internet can give. Some were just particulars in researching, socializing, and getting juicy news from the famous celebrities. Though, there are some who cares about the latest news updates that concerning the whole wide world. One of the latest breaking news so far was the recent hostage drama that took place on the fateful Monday of August 23, 2010 which enrage the Hongkong government as well as Chinese communities. If we check the online news, a feeling of disgust, dismayed, disappointments (and all other synonyms you could think of) were evident on the face of those who were interviewed.  Good thing the famous Jackie Chan sent the message to his fellowmen emphasizing that such incident is an isolated case. The response of the people depends on the writers' (both online and print ads) style of delivering/capturing the news. Some were provocative while others were just being informative. For this case, writers should be responsible enough.
But that's not the main topic of  our workshop. We were just taught on how to be responsible when it comes to journalism, printed or online.

The most challenging so far was the web page designing...
Well, got to study harder...

A Bloggers' Code of Ethics

Noteworthy To Think About....

Taken from http://cyberjournalist.net/news/000215.php

Some bloggers recently have been debating what, if any, ethics the Weblog community should follow. Since not all bloggers are journalists and the Weblog form is more casual, they argue they shouldn't be expected to follow the same ethics codes journalists are. But responsible bloggers should recognize that they are publishing words publicly, and therefore have certain ethical obligations to their readers, the people they write about, and society in general.
CyberJournalist.net has created a model Bloggers' Code of Ethics, by modifying the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics for the Weblog world. These are just guidelines -- in the end it is up to individual bloggers to choose their own best practices. CyberJournalist.net follows this code and urges other Weblogs to adopt this one or similar practices.
Integrity is the cornerstone of credibility. Bloggers who adopt this code of principles and these standards of practice not only practice ethical publishing, but convey to their readers that they can be trusted.

A BLOGGERS' CODE OF ETHICS

Be Honest and Fair
Bloggers should be honest and fair in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.
Bloggers should:
• Never plagiarize.
• Identify and link to sources whenever feasible. The public is entitled to as much information as possible on sources' reliability.
• Make certain that Weblog entries, quotations, headlines, photos and all other content do not misrepresent. They should not oversimplify or highlight incidents out of context.
• Never distort the content of photos without disclosing what has been changed. Image enhancement is only acceptable for for technical clarity. Label montages and photo illustrations.
• Never publish information they know is inaccurate -- and if publishing questionable information, make it clear it's in doubt.
• Distinguish between advocacy, commentary and factual information. Even advocacy writing and commentary should not misrepresent fact or context.
• Distinguish factual information and commentary from advertising and shun hybrids that blur the lines between the two.
Minimize Harm
Ethical bloggers treat sources and subjects as human beings deserving of respect.
Bloggers should:
• Show compassion for those who may be affected adversely by Weblog content. Use special sensitivity when dealing with children and inexperienced sources or subjects.
• Be sensitive when seeking or using interviews or photographs of those affected by tragedy or grief.
• Recognize that gathering and reporting information may cause harm or discomfort. Pursuit of information is not a license for arrogance.
• Recognize that private people have a greater right to control information about themselves than do public officials and others who seek power, influence or attention. Only an overriding public need can justify intrusion into anyone's privacy.
• Show good taste. Avoid pandering to lurid curiosity.
Be cautious about identifying juvenile suspects, victims of sex crimes and criminal suspects before the formal filing of charges.
Be Accountable
Bloggers should:
• Admit mistakes and correct them promptly.
• Explain each Weblog's mission and invite dialogue with the public over its content and the bloggers' conduct.
• Disclose conflicts of interest, affiliations, activities and personal agendas.
• Deny favored treatment to advertisers and special interests and resist their pressure to influence content. When exceptions are made, disclose them fully to readers.
• Be wary of sources offering information for favors. When accepting such information, disclose the favors.
• Expose unethical practices of other bloggers.
• Abide by the same high standards to which they hold others.

_For more than a year in blogging, it was only now that i realized that I have to live with the code...

The Beauty of Faith

Each one of us has a story to tell about our life... some may have a quite similar stories but all are unique as to intensity and as to the delivery of the role each one played. I just admired those individuals who went through life in great adversity but yet was able to stand up by faith and trust in Our all-knowing God. The maturity of a person will help him in coping up with all the negatives in life he might deal with. If one is not mature enough, a minor problems can be as hard as solving the x in Math equation for Math-hater individual. I have known a lot of them and it was never difficult for me to recognize because I can relate with them- I am just like them.I cannot really brag to myself that I am matured in dealing with problems, I am just good in giving advises for others but hard to convince myself when I am on the same situation.
Just this afternoon, I have talked to a colleague of mine. The things she went through as a Mom is not an ordinary story. As I listened to her, the beauty of faith was reflected on her. I cannot imagine going through on the same situation. But her faith was so admirable. With her experience, one cannot expect that she could survive the ordeal. But God isn't finish with her yet... She has to live because she has a purpose to fulfill.
To you Ma'am Naomi, continue to live for His purpose and by His purpose...
Keep the faith!

August Rush

Oops, isn't it a title of the movie? Whoever watch that movie, I'm pretty sure it's one of those unforgettable movie flicks. Well, I will not be writing about that movie...Rather, i'll be writing about the month itself.

August is such a busy month. It's the last month of the third quarter, to be followed by the "ber" months (I can now imagine the glitters and decos for the Holiday season).Anyway, just to refresh your memories on the History brought to you by http://www.indepthinfo.com/months/august.shtml:

The month of August is named for the Roman Emperor Augustus. He completed the calendar reforms begun by his great-uncle and adoptive father Julius Caesar. The Roman Senate, in order to curry favor with the tyrant changed the name of the eighth month, (which is fitting because before he became Augustus, this Caesar was named Octavian). The name was changed from Sextilis which actually meant "sixth month". The eighth month had been called the sixth month for over a centuries, because the Roman Senate had rolled back the beginning of the year to January 1st in 153 B.C. but had not changed the names of the months to conform to their new position in the calendar.

I've known a lot of personalities born on this month and mind you, they're not just merely personalities, but they are those who are closer to my heart, they are my families! Most of them are from my spiritual family. We have there our co-bloggers, and I guess both of them were truly inspired aside from the fact that they're not getting any younger (oops!), that's arjay and joey and we also have two of my spiritual younger sister, the forever emotional Esther Joy and always pretty Hannah...
And also, today, August 21, 2010,marks another year of our beloved spiritual leader, Bishop Genesis T. Udang... God indeed blessed him so much. With a very supportive wife and obedient sons, and the soon-to be realization of their dream house. I am pretty sure that more blessings are coming along their way!

And of course, TOMORROW, August 22, 2010, is my one and only Mama's birthday! Some says I am her replica. Well, I don't want to disagree because she's convinced with it as well and SHE'S MY MOM, it's beyond reasonable doubt ☺ She might be unpredictable sometimes (just like me) but I knew and I can feel it how much she l♥ves me (hmmm...) We might argue on minor issues sometimes but in her her silence I know there is understanding... I love her so much, she knew that so well... My Mom, my Corazon... (mi amor!)

And on August 26, another very important person will celebrate his birthday, it's none other than my step dad, my dear Tatay. Once,  he gave up everything to the point of forgetting himself in the name of l♥ve. People may consider it wrong but I truly blessed the day Tatay came into our life. I know God brought him to us for a reason. I may seldom say this, but I love my Tatay so much.He filled what my real father failed to do... He played the role of the most important person in our home. He resume the obligation that was abandoned by the leading man :)

And finally, on August 30, 2010, will be the 10th birthday of my one and only nephew (as of now☺) I can't imagine how time flew so fast. We are now almost of the same height. Kuya, as I fondly called him, is our  eldest nephew, the eldest grand child of my parents. He is now in Grade IV- FL class. He is in resemblance of his father, really. He is a lot bigger now than this picture which was taken when he was still in second grade. What I admired most of my Kuya Reden is that he has the guts to perform on stage without forcing him... hmmm that's what I call determination. I thank God for keeping him safe always. I love my family so much. I may not be expressive about it but in my heart and in my mind, they are my treasures.

To arjay, joy2, joey, bishop bong, mama, tatay and kuya... MORE LIFE TO CHERISH, and more reasons to celebrate! God's overflowing blessings be upon you all. ♥♥♥

See, how August was gifted with such brilliant people? Not only that, Kagay-anons now are too busy as well with the upcoming fiesta celebration on the 28th.

PIT: L♥ve N☻tes...

The Paradox of Life

Who among us are not familiar with the Paradox of Life? In case you do not know about this, let me share it with you:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but
shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but
have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller
families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less
sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems,
more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little,
drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too
little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too
much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a
living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've
been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street
to meet a new neighbour. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've
done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but
polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write
more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to
rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to
produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods, and slow digestion, big men and small
character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of
two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are
days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night
stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to
quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and
nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to
you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just
hit delete.

Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going
to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to
you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your
side. Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is
the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but
most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from
deep inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for
someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to
speak, and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Easier said than done? Why not give it a try? I am a failure to some of the realities in life... but I am holding on to the truth that if we cling unto God for wisdom, strength and guidance- things are never really that hard for us... We can still choose to live our life to the fullest ♥

MYM/RT: A Friend to Cherish...

me and matet
People come and go in our lives. Some will just pass by while others will choose to stay... There are some who went away not because they want to leave you, but because they were left with no choices at all. I have met a lot of them who walked away but they never leave any traces of bitterness in my heart because the truth is, they are the kind who are worth to be cherished.

This MYM, I would like to feature my former colleague. She's Ann Margrethe "Matet" Hojas. She's no only just an ordinary colleague, she's a real friend, a big sister and a confidante. Barely two years go, she left me because that's the best thing that she could do. She used to visit me once in a while for few months since she left until I haven't seen her anymore.

But I know that in her heart and in my heart, the bonding and memories was still there. She just celebrated her birthday few weeks ago. But since I've changed my number, we do not have any communication anymore. I tried to catch her up on her fb and fs account but our world just don't meet or perhaps not yet as of now...

To Ann or Matet, whom I used to call "gwapa", I miss your presence. hope to see you soon! :)

Rustic Furniture At Its Best...

6 piece rustic bedroom furniture
Being an Architectural Drafting major, I have my preferences of home design. If I were to design my own home, I want it to be made of hard wood for the walls and floors or if not, I want my concrete floor to have wooden tiles. Of course I would love to have it complemented with rustic furniture to add beauty to my dream house. I love furniture of rustic type especially for bedroom furniture. As seen on the picture, the feeling of natural calmness was there. I am not a sophisticated type so I preferred this kind than those that are made of steels. I find this more classic and appealing. I happened to visit the Scenic Furniture website and I found their line of furniture so attractive and a really-must have to every home! They guaranteed that what they carry is made from rustic unprocessed wood or logs. There are a lot of designs to choose from and to avail it is so easy with credit cards for a very reasonable price. Not only that, they offer Instant Discount Coupon. To avail, simply click it and enter the code and they will send it to your email. Want to live like you are on the countryside. You've got to have it!

The Domino Effect Of Sin

We heard it often and we heard it right that banana tree will always bears a banana fruit, and a mango tree will always bears a mango fruit and so on and so forth... whatever is the tree it shall bear its own the same fruit! Well, of course! However, we cannot be likened to a fruit that whatever is our roots, so shall we as what most of us were insisting. Meaning, if our ancestors bears a sin then most likely, we can inherit such sin... That's the Domino Effect of sin, so to speak. It might hold true to some but we can avoid that if we really want to. The truth is, it's a cursed that we need to bind and put to STOP.

Divorce is the most common cursed that was passed on from generation to generation... I've been through that ordeal with my parents. they might not be legally separated but it already happened. Though, it's not the case of my grand parents, but some of my relatives were on the same situation. This is one thing that I really want to STOP. It cannot, should not and must not happen to me and even for my generation to come.

The domino effect of sin is just a hallucination to one's corrupted mind. We can do something to stop it. As long we have God, NOTHING and absolutely NOTHING is impossible!

God bless everyone!  ♥

WFW: Matthew 22:37

To Love God With “All Your Heart” is NOT Enough!

Loving God with all of your heart, soul, mind AND strength. Then to love your neighbor as yourself. To "love" God is a demonstration not with just your "heart" only, but requires us to love Him with "all of your heart, soul, mind AND strength. (Then to) Love our neighbor as our self." The Commandment to Love has FIVE (5) ways to be fully executed before it is fulfilled.

And don't you know that the best proof of love for others is giving a portion of your time for them...

love is best spelled as T-I-M-E ♥

Give Yourself A Break!

Best family holiday get-together
Lodge holidays with a big smile! Mark your calendar with the schedule of family trips next summer! I know how tired you are from that back breaking office chores! So why not treat yourself together with your family a break? Freed your mind from stress and allow yourself to have a relaxing moment with your entire family! Well, why am I so early in discussing with this one? First, for practical reason because the early you book for a holiday destination, the cheaper it would be. Second, you will going to have ample time to decide for the best places to visit. Third, you will be free from panic-related decisions.

The best way to spend holiday is by being well-prepared and the best way to realize it is to have it carefully planned. Sometimes, we tend not to enjoy holidays when we failed to plan it in advance. This is the thing, the early we book and decide for the perfect place , the more we will going to enjoy our holiday break. Check available sites that offer bigger discounts and freebies for holiday locations.

Do not let panic overwhelms you this Summer 2011, plan it out before you will be running out of time.

Post- it Tuesday!
